RM: Elissa, a10407651_10103549964958612_119452263983228949_nccording to you what is the best thing about the fitness lifestyle?

EM: I have always been passionate about health and fitness. I enjoy having a goal and being able to outwardly express my passion for physical achievement. Training is euphoric and my main method of stress relief. There is nothing as rewarding as sweating out a stressful day, or sweating to celebrate an amazing day. In the process, being able to visibly see and physically feel the rewards of hard work and dedication each day.

RM: Who has the ideal physique in your opinion?

RM: I am personally in love with Candice Carters’ physique. She has amazing symmetry, is gorgeous and has an inner beauty to match.

RM: Have you been involved in any other sports before you became a figure athlete?

EM: I played volleyball in high school, then once I began college, I started weight training and teaching spin classes. After grad school, I trained in Crossfit until my knee injuries. It was during my rehabilitation from my knee injuries that I started training for competitions.

RM: What are your passions besides training?10366155_10152097291882218_2822385228954060395_n

EM: My greatest passion has been the desire and ability to help and care for others. I love my career because I get to care for my patients and bring them smiles, healing and strength on a daily basis. Through competing, I have found that I am able to inspire and influence so many simply by doing something I’m passionate about. I pray that my faith, testimony, overcoming my struggles, and my perseverance can motivate just one more person to strive towards their goal and find their own desire and strength to overcome whatever challenges they are facing.

RM: What does your weekly training schedule look like?

EM: I train 6 days a week, with one complete rest day. I generally start the week with shoulders and legs and finish with back, chest and a plyo/conditioning day. During competition season, I start every morning with fasted cardio. I dislike the early morning wake up calls, but love the feeling of accomplishment afterwards!

RM: When will we see you on stage again?

EM: I am most definitely planning on getting on stage again this year. I have had to overcome and recover from my ankle surgery late last year, so I’m still undecided exactly on a show. I need to see how I continue to progress before I commit to a show.

RM: Do you use any specific supplements in your training?

I am blessed to hav1425688_10151788869822218_649035265_ne a great relationship with MuscleTech. Their products are a staple in my training. I use their pre workouts, protein and BCAAs daily. I also try to be diligent about taking vitamins daily,  including multi vitamin, Vitamin B, C and D, Biotin, Fish Oil, Calcium and Magnesium.

RM: Ok Elissa, It’s time for the wrap up this interview, if there is anyone you want to thank or somehting you want to add, please do do:

I am grateful to God, who has guided me on this amazing path and through which all things are possible.  I need to thank my amazing coach, Catherine Holland, who has directed me every step of the way, and is not only a coach, but an amazing friend. A huge thank you to my sponsors, MuscleTech, CJ’s Elite Competition suits and Glam Comp Jewelry for continuing to support me in my journey. And most importantly, my family, who has been my crutch through good times and bad. I truly love competing because it has provided me with an outlet to reach people in a way I never dreamed I could. One of my greatest joys is hearing from my fans and supporters and I encourage everyone to reach out to me. It is their stories and their support that motivate and inspire me every day.

Thank you for making this interview Elissa, we hope that your ancle will heal fast so we can see you compete on the figure stages soon again. Additionally, best of luck with your future goals and keep on influence and inspire the people around you.
