Reigning Women’s Physique Olympia Juliana Malacarne will not compete in 9 weeks at this year’s Olympia in Las Vegas.

On saturday 15th of July the 44 year-old Brazilian-born Juliana Malacarne announced via social media that she will not compete at this year’s Olympia.

Malacarne won her first Olympic title in 2014, where she took the first place from former ruling champion Dana Linn Bailey. After that, Malacarne has straight wins until the last time she competed in 2017.

The reason behind her choice not to compete is not related to health issues; Juliana is fine but the same excitement to compete is not the same, and the interest and how her division evolved does not interest her as much as before. Today, ideality requires a much harder physical look.

If the fans and IFBB Pro League will ever see Brazilian on stage, is unclear at the moment.

As a result, a new Women’s Physique Olympia champion 2018 will be crowned.
