We who live in the western society and in a democracy, we are in general blessed with the choice to study and get a degree to find an occupation that we really love and that stimulates our creativity. There are of course phases or situations where we might have to choose a job that we don’t like because of unemployment or a situation when you just have to bring food to the table for your family.

Another thing that comes to mind is the importance of realizing that you are an individual with your own values and drives through your life. Living life side by side with your children or family is a blessing, but what I am after is who you are in all of this, more than a partner, mother or a sibling. I am after the individual, the one having the leading role in your life. Whether you want it or not – it will always be you. What are your dreams and passions? I am interested in you!

When we have the ability to choose our careers or jobs we should go after what excites us and what we are curious about. For example jobs where we don’t have to lie for ourselves pretending the situation is fine just because you are getting salary each month. Everyone is curious about different things, but not everyone dares to explore their curiosity. As I see it, everyone has something that they are meant to do; either it’s their fulltime occupation or a sidelined interest.

The thing is though, not everyone find their passions – they follow the stream. It is highly important to search for passions because they will enrich your charater nd make you more whole as a person. In addition allow yourself to stick out from the crowd or think outside the box, and reach your dreams and don’t be scared to follow them.

Remember that passions can be everything from starting a company that specifies in ecological foods, or taking dancing classes or write music or by going to the university to become an architect. Additionally, having interests in your life is also having a place where you can rest a stressful mind and also something to grasp onto and rely on in darker periods of life.

Passions are not based upon a life spent lying to yourself that your working situation is meaningful. You also need to remember that no magician will appear one day and put a spellbound on you and change your life and make it meaningful for you. Only one person can do this, and that person is you.

As a matter of fact, passions are the main keys against existential anxiety – why? Because by exploring and concentrating on what you love is a great part in the fulfillment of who you are – remember that.

If you’re not there yet – knowing what your passions are – keep on searching for them – they are the basics to your own persona and life.

“You can’t just sit there and wait 109925-108219for people to give you that golden dream. You’ve got to get out there and make it happen for yourself” – Diana Ross

When elderly people have been interviewed about possible regrets through their lives, common answers are that they wished they hadn’t spent 20–30 years on the same job, or not travelling enough, or not taking risks or going after what excited them to a greater extension.

Lesson learned.

Dare to take risks, and remember that life is no one else’s life but yours and your dreams, so don’t be scared of sticking out and go after what you’re curious about. Be creative and don’t be lazy when it comes to searching for what you love to do. Find your passions and follow them, they will give you greater confidence and you will thereby grow as a person, which includes enrichment of your life.
