zane watson

It is time to introduce one of Canada’s most prominent IFBB Pros at this point in time. He has only competed for as short while asIMG_6960 a professional, but is already a 212 pro-show winner! Additionally, many people both inside the fitness industry, as well as fans believes he has the ability to make big things happen in the following years!

So let’s welcome Zane Watson for an interview with Rising Muscle!

Country: Canada
City: Hamilton
Age: 27
Height: 5’7”
Weight: on / off: 212/ 250
Contest background: 2013 Toronto pro 13th, 2014 Toronto pro ast, 2014 Olympia 16th, 2014 Phoenix Pro 6th

RM: Zane, do you remember your first gym workout and what that experience was like?

ZW: I don’t specifically remember the very first time I trained, but growing up with both parents having bodybuilding backgrounds I would watch my father train almost everyday. He would ask me to sit on top the leg press machine to add more weight to it. When I was at the age of 15 or 16 he started to train me and still does to this day.

RM: After all these years training, _28k1340what does bodybuilding mean to you?

ZW: Bodybuilding to me is a way of life. Without it I would fall apart, not just physically but mentally as well. It keeps my life structured and challenges me to be a better version of myself every day.

RM: What does your weekly training schedule look like?

ZW: This will vary between on and off-season but as of rate now see the picture I have attached. I will follow this split for
the next couple of months. My focus is to put size on my back as it is much needed and my upper body.

RM: How would you describe your training style?

ZW: I have always been a huge fan of Dorian Yates, so I would say a lot of my training is based on his high-intensity theory.

RM: From your perspective, what are the biggest misconceptions the society has about bodybuilders?

ZW: Obviously the biggest misconception would be that bodybuilders are only big and look the way they do because of the drugs they take. Many people believe that if anyone were to do the same drugs they would get the same results. There couldn’t be a less true assumption. Every successful bodybuilder I know has a great understanding of how the human body works, how to train properly, how to eat an incredibly strict and healthy diet, and on top of all that a work ethic that most people can only dream of.DSC_0479

RM: If you could change anything about bodybuilding or the fitness industry in general what would that be?

ZW: In bodybuilding specifically, I would like to see more being given to the athletes. It’s a very lucrative sport for the organizations involved and the businesses that thrive in the periphery. With it being such a tough sport on the athletes not just physically, but mentally and financially, I feel that more is due to the athletes that attract so many loyal fans.

With fitness in general, I hope we see this trend of fitness continue becoming less of a niche and a more mainstream activity and way of life. I strongly believe that a fit and healthy lifestyle is the answer to so many problems and I’d like to see that become more attainable to everyone regardless of age, economic status, and current level of health.

RM: Ok, it is time to wrap up this interview. If there is anything you want to add or someone you want to mention please go ahead!
ZW: The only thing I always try to make clear is something I’ve learned, and am still learning, throughout my career. In bodybuilding, as in life, persistence is crucial. You’ll see ups and downs, gains and losses, but if you stick with it and are constantly striving toward your goal you will prevail.

RM: Zane, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with Rising Muscle. We wish you all the best in the forthcoming of your career, and since the Holidays are closing in, we also want to wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
